Case Study Project

The company sought to develop a natural-based formulation and material composition that will expedite the rate of wound healing within the veterinary field, with the aim of eventually extending its capability to humans.

The Company sought to devise a novel chemical formulation utilising natural compounds to develop an ointment focused on acting as a catalyst in the angiogenic process, expediting the rate of cell regeneration in wounds in animals. Alongside the formulation, the Company carried out extensive research into material chemistry to develop an enhanced mesh dressing that takes into consideration breathability, absorption and compression to promote advanced healing. In order to overcome the incompatibilities related to pH, hypoxia and wound oxygen tension, the Company developed several formulations, testing anti-microbial dispersion, inflammation and efficacy on wound length closure in order to develop a medical-grade product that can effectively reduce wound healing time in comparison to the controls (existing medical-grade products).
