In his role, Carwardine will work alongside RCK’s Non-Executive Director and former Defence Secretary, Lord Philip Hammond, to help drive R&D innovation in UK defence. This appointment will support RCK’s clients in navigating the complexities of preparing a robust R&D tax relief claim, ensuring eligible companies can continue to foster growth, speed, and agility in the defence industry.

Against the backdrop of rising UK defence spending, the support RCK provides to the sector is critical. Specialising in R&D tax credits, RCK Partners is helping firms drive innovation in both defence infrastructure and technology to access critical funding which will enable them to advance the future of security in the UK and beyond.

On his appointment, Andrew Carwardine, RCK’s Defence Senior Partner, said:

“I’m honoured to take on the role of Defence Senior Partner at RCK and look forward to bringing my experience to the team. To keep up with the changing pace of defence, in the current global conditions the UK has to be able to innovate more quickly, and the work RCK does is vital in helping defence businesses effectively navigate the innovation and procurement cycles to deliver new tools and technologies at speed. Innovation is the driving force of the UK’s national security and ensuring organisations can access the full benefits of R&D tax relief is crucial to maintaining the UK’s technological edge.

“I look forward to working with the RCK team to support defence businesses in maximising their investment in cutting-edge R&D and driving the UK’s position as a defence powerhouse.”

Lord Philip Hammond, Non-Executive Director at RCK Partners
added:

“Andrew’s appointment comes at a critical moment for the UK’s defence industry as we navigate increasingly complex geopolitical pressures. His experience as an army officer and an MOD Advisor, combined with his business experience, will be vital to providing the clarity and guidance the sector needs to enable funding and ensure it is best placed to make a difference to the UK’s national security efforts. I look forward to working with Andrew to strengthen our support for UK businesses and shape the future of British defence.”
